Challenge and Prize Spotlight Chat with National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST)

The Spotlight Chat is a moderated discussion with innovation leaders to highlight success stories and lessons learned. In this session, we will hear from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Innovation and Legal teams as they share how they worked together to establish a legal framework for prizes and challenges at NIST.

Presenters

Jarah Meador is the director of the Open Innovation Programs, including CitizenScience.gov and Challenge.gov.

Craig Connelly joined the Public Safety Communications Research (PSCR) Division’s Open Innovation team in July 2017 and serves as a prize and challenge specialist. In this role, he manages internal and external R&D, communications, legal, administrative, and procurement resources to design and implement prize competitions and challenges to advance PSCR’s mission.

Jeremy Glenn is a Presidential Management Fellow serving as a prize and challenge specialist for the PSCR at NIST. In this role he designs and manages all aspects of prize competitions to advance PSCR’s mission to further communications technologies for first responders. Mr. Glenn is a licensed attorney and U.S. Marine Corps veteran.

Emily Parkhurst is a general attorney in the Office of the Chief Counsel (OCC) for the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). She has been an employee of OCC/NIST since 2014. Ms. Parkhurst is the OCC/NIST attorney located at the NIST campus in Boulder, Colorado.
