The Postal Service Just Broke Analytics.usa.gov
Ok, so it didn’t really break it. But you might notice that the amount of “people on government websites now” on analytics.usa.gov is a lot higher than it used to be.
The Digital Analytics Program (DAP) team has been working with a team from the U.S. Postal Service over the past few months to implement DAP on usps.com and all usps.com subdomains. Last week, DAP was activated on the pages, and we nearly passed out when we saw the first data coming in. This week, you can see some of that data on analytics.usa.gov.
What you see is real. At any given moment, there can be upwards of 6,000 real-time visitors on the usps.com homepage and over 50,000 across all the pages within usps.com domains. As a result, the real-time numbers across all participating sites, as well as the “visits in the past 90 days” section will be markedly higher. There are a lot of people out there tracking packages.
We thank USPS and welcome them to the Digital Analytics Program!
