Ask Karen is a web knowledgebase, populated with answers to questions pertaining to food safety. Ask Karen provides answers to consumers via an automated response system.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003ch2 id=\"why-we-did-it\"\u003eWhy We Did It\u003c/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eReaching out to consumers via web sites is no longer enough. Social media proves to us that people are mobile and they are staying in touch while they are going about their daily business. So deploying mobile Ask Karen seemed like the next logical step in providing assistance and tips on preventing foodborne illness, safe food handling, storage, and safe preparation of meat, poultry, and egg products.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eMobile Ask Karen is another step in allowing consumers to have information when they need it. Ask Karen is able to go to \u0026ldquo;with\u0026rdquo; consumers to the grocery store, the farmers market, and be with you in your kitchen and at your BBQ.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003ch2 id=\"what-we-did\"\u003eWhat We Did\u003c/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe mobile Ask Karen was adapted from the web site\u0026rsquo;s FAQ database by the same customer experience management company which developed the original database.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003ch2 id=\"how-it-worked\"\u003eHow It Worked\u003c/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eJust like using Ask Karen from your desktop or laptop computer, consumers with iOS and Android mobile devices can:\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cul\u003e\n\u003cli\u003esearch by topic or products,\u003c/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003esend an email,\u003c/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003euse the chat feature\u003c/li\u003e\n\u003c/ul\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFood Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) also provides the number for the Meat and Poultry Hotline via Ask Karen.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003ch2 id=\"what-we-learned\"\u003eWhat We Learned\u003c/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIf you have an idea for developing a mobile app, don\u0026rsquo;t wait.
