They are offering $45,000 in prize money and are taking submissions until the end of September. They already have \u003ca href=\"http://nistdata.devpost.com/participants\"\u003e70 volunteers signed up\u003c/a\u003e for this competition.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAgencies have used the open data competition approach in their quest to provide anytime, anywhere government. In 2011, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) conducted the \u003ca href=\"http://www.epa.gov/greenapps/challenge.html\"\u003eApps for the Environment challenge\u003c/a\u003e and has a \u003ca href=\"http://developer.epa.gov/category/apps/\"\u003ehub for apps created\u003c/a\u003e using EPA data.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe U.S. Census Bureau builds \u003ca href=\"/preview/gsa/digitalgov.gov/cm-topics-button-component/2013/12/03/census-mobile-app-showcases-local-statistics/\"\u003enative apps to showcase their data to developers\u003c/a\u003e. \u003cspan class=\"il\"\u003eCensus\u003c/span\u003e recently partnered with the White House to create new data-driven apps developed in response to the \u003ca href=\"https://www.challenge.gov/challenge/city-software-development-kit-sdk-data-solutions-challenge/\" target=\"_blank\"\u003eNational CitySDK Open Data Challenge\u003c/a\u003e.
