The event marks the culmination of the \u003ca href=\"https://www.challenge.gov/challenge/city-software-development-kit-sdk-data-solutions-challenge/\"\u003eNational CitySDK Open Data Challenge\u003c/a\u003e, launched back in June using \u003ca href=\"https://www.challenge.gov/list/\"\u003eChallenge.gov\u003c/a\u003e, the federal government’s free platform for running challenges and prize competitions to spur innovation.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eTeaming with the White House Innovation Fellows, the U.S. Department of Commerce and several other federal agencies, the Bureau created a new open-source project called the United States \u003ca href=\"http://uscensusbureau.github.io/citysdk/\"\u003eCitySDK\u003c/a\u003e (Software Development Kit). The challenge that followed called on citizens to design apps on top of CitySDK to improve economic, educational and other conditions in their cities.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eDuring Thursday’s webinar, the teams will demo their prototypes for special guests Ian Kalin, chief data officer at the Commerce Department, and Avi Bender, chief technology officer of the Census Bureau.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eApplications to be featured will address solutions ranging from handicap accessibility in Minnesota to the distribution of community parks in Austin.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBe sure to \u003ca href=\"\n\"\u003eregister online\u003c/a\u003e for the National Demo Day webinar as this challenge is a great example of how prize competitions can bring citizens and government together to tackle a variety of issues while using information available to everybody.\u003c/p\u003e\n"}
