They go through step-by-step how the \u003ca href=\"http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tuxS1iDwc_c\u0026amp;feature=youtube_gdata\"\u003eProject Open Data Metadata Schema is being updated, in this recorded webinar\u003c/a\u003e, for greater clarity and data discoverability. It is based on agency feedback, and you can learn about tools and resources to assist data stewards, IT personnel, and all agency staff in their v 1.1 metadata updates.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eSpeaking of Project Open Data, this cross-agency initiative developed by the White House looks at how to manage information as an asset in the 21st century, and it is powered by \u003ca href=\"https://github.com/\"\u003eGitHub\u003c/a\u003e. GitHub has grown to become a place where anyone can do simple collaboration. It’s a free social network that tracks changes to any data, not just code, where stakeholders and developers can work on the same data simultaneously. In March we hosted \u003ca href=\"/preview/gsa/digitalgov.gov/cm-topics-button-component/2014/03/05/github-for-government-recap/\" title=\"GitHub for Government Recap\"\u003eGitHub for Government\u003c/a\u003e. In this video recording Noah Kunin from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau walks you through the platform and some of its specific features for government. You can also take a look at \u003ca href=\"/preview/gsa/digitalgov.gov/cm-topics-button-component/2014/06/11/the-api-briefing-quick-guide-to-using-github-fdas-openfda-research-project/\" title=\"The API Briefing: Quick Guide to Using GitHub – FDA’s OpenFDA Research Project\"\u003eA Quick Guide to Using Github\u003c/a\u003e, a post written in November.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003ch2 id=\"open-source-content-and-content-modeling\"\u003eOpen Source Content and Content Modeling\u003c/h2\u003e\n\u003cdiv class=\"image\"\u003e\n  \u003cimg\n    src=\"https://s3.amazonaws.com/digitalgov/_legacy-img/2014/05/600-x-285-Open-Content-Model-full-cropped.jpg\"\n    alt=\"Open Content Model mural\"/\u003e\u003c/div\u003e\n\n\n\u003cp\u003eAgencies are also turning to “open as default” processes and considering this while in the early stages of development for delivery of services. \u003ca href=\"https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pRoCVIivbP4\u0026amp;index=10\u0026amp;list=PLd9b-GuOJ3nFA8rIjFKllLSAJl61IBYKM\"\u003eThis recorded event in early May discussed the White House’s use of Drupal\u003c/a\u003e during the State of the Union address as one example of using an Open Content Management System in a unique and innovative way to serve citizens.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAnother event focusing on \u003ca href=\"\n\" title=\"Mobile Web Templates: How to Use Open Source CMS to Implement Responsive Web Design\"\u003eusing open source CMS\u003c/a\u003e was hosted by Jacob Parcell, Manager of Mobile Programs at GSA, and featured two GSA case studies and one from the State Department. This event presented uses of open source CMS solutions to implement responsive design on agency sites. In July we hosted \u003ca href=\"/preview/gsa/digitalgov.gov/cm-topics-button-component/2014/07/14/working-with-apis-for-non-coders-recap/\" title=\"Working with APIs for Non-Coders Recap\"\u003eWorking with APIs for Non-Coders\u003c/a\u003e. This event, hosted by Eric Mill, a key developer on GSA’s 18F team, was especially targeted to non-developers and explored the basics of APIs, using \u003ca href=\"http://sunlightlabs.github.io/congress/\"\u003ethe Congress API\u003c/a\u003e, offered by the Sunlight Foundation, as an example.
