Agency leaders need to learn the \u003ca href=\"https://www.enterpriseirregulars.com/89399/strategic-role-digital-networks-corporate-leadership-today/\"\u003efive imperatives of network leadership\u003c/a\u003e:\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003col\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eCreate reach by cultivating network capital\u003c/strong\u003e – Like political capital, executives need to build trust with members of their organization.\u003c/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eBe transparent and communicative by working out loud\u003c/strong\u003e – Periodically communicate what you are working on by sharing your work activities on the network.\u003c/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eEngage on the network regularly by staying involved at multiple levels and channels\u003c/strong\u003e – Networks thrive on two-way communication, so you need to not only post but respond to network members.\u003c/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eWork through the network by orchestrating and co-creating\u003c/strong\u003e – Leaders who build sufficient network capital will better work through the network by engaging the network members into co-creating the strategies and projects for digital transformation.\u003c/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eUse the network to learn and then optimize\u003c/strong\u003e – Leaders can use networks to gain the real perspective in the organization and to tap into the collective wisdom of the organization.\u003c/li\u003e\n\u003c/ol\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAs agency leaders become more adept at network leadership, leaders can also help their agency employees master \u003ca href=\"http://sloanreview.mit.edu/article/will-skill-and-velocity-survival-skills-for-a-digital-world/?utm_source=Publicaster\u0026amp;utm_medium=email\u0026amp;utm_campaign=Gen+8%2f15%2f17+-+India+Challenge\u0026amp;utm_content=flexible+talents%2c+nerve%2c+and+personal+speed\"\u003ethree personal traits to succeed in the new digitally-transformed agencies\u003c/a\u003e. The first trait is \u003cstrong\u003ewill\u003c/strong\u003e—which is the employee’s desire to evolve and try new things. The second trait is \u003cstrong\u003eskill\u003c/strong\u003e—which not only means mastering the skills for the employee’s current job but, the skills that will be needed as their role evolves. The third and final trait is \u003cstrong\u003evelocity\u003c/strong\u003e—the higher pace at which the employee needs to move to keep up with the new digital reality.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFederal agencies are undergoing digital transformation to serve the American public better.
