I asked some API enthusiasts in the \u003ca href=\"/preview/gsa/digitalgov.gov/bc-archive-content-3/communities/social-media/\"\u003eSocialGov community\u003c/a\u003e which of their favorite recipes were must-haves for all digital teams or for those new to the platform.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFirst, for those not familiar with it, \u003ca href=\"https://ifttt.com/\"\u003eIFTTT\u003c/a\u003e (as in “If This Then That”) combines \u003ca href=\"https://ifttt.com/channels\"\u003e166 channels\u003c/a\u003e like Twitter, Android and iOS Location, and RSS into “recipes” that can integrate government social media, data, location-based services, and the Internet of Things.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWhile the potential uses of government APIs for citizen use is getting explored through \u003ca href=\"http://www.programmableweb.com/news/government-agencies-turn-to-ifttt-to-make-apis-accessible/2015/03/02\"\u003ecommunities like ProgrammableWeb\u003c/a\u003e and our own \u003ca href=\"http://18f.github.io/ifgovthenthat/\"\u003eIf Gov Then That\u003c/a\u003e, for the purposes of this woman-and-man-on-the-spot question we focused on recipes that could be used internally for government.
