He outlined the necessary components to a campaign:\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cul\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eCreate a \u003cstrong\u003emessage\u003c/strong\u003e that will be shared, and a story that explains the campaign or event. Including a graphic will make your message more engaging.\u003c/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eSet a \u003cstrong\u003edate and time\u003c/strong\u003e when the message will be sent. Allow at least two weeks for promotion.\u003c/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eSet a \u003cstrong\u003esupporter goal\u003c/strong\u003e of 100, 250, or 500 and ask users to help you share the message via Twitter, Facebook, or Tumblr.\u003c/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003ePromote the campaign to your social media followers, partners, and email lists.\u003c/li\u003e\n\u003c/ul\u003e\n\u003ch2 id=\"measuring-success\"\u003eMeasuring Success\u003c/h2\u003e\n\u003cul\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eIf you reach your goal, your message will be shared by your supporters at the same time.\u003c/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eSocial reach: How many people were exposed to your message?\u003c/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eThe action point: Did people take the desired action? (Sign up, order, etc.)\u003c/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eDid you increase traffic to relevant Web pages?\u003c/li\u003e\n\u003c/ul\u003e\n\u003ch2 id=\"when-to-use-thunderclap\"\u003eWhen To Use Thunderclap\u003c/h2\u003e\n\u003cul\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eMajor observances\u003c/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eEvents \u0026amp; announcements\u003c/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eNew product or service launch\u003c/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eIssue/topic support\u003c/li\u003e\n\u003c/ul\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eJessica Orquina\u003c/strong\u003e, social media lead for the \u003cstrong\u003eEnvironmental Protection Agency\u003c/strong\u003e \u003cstrong\u003e(EPA)\u003c/strong\u003e, has worked on three Thunderclaps, two of which were successful. She shared some lessons learned from their first campaign, \u003ca href=\"https://www.thunderclap.it/projects/5938-protect-your-kids\"\u003eProtect Your Kids!\u003c/a\u003e, which didn’t reach its goal.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cul\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eShort campaign (less than a week) was not enough time to reach the goal.\u003c/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003ePeople didn’t want to give Thunderclap access to their account.\u003c/li\u003e\n\u003c/ul\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eEPA achieved success on their next two campaigns, \u003ca href=\"https://www.thunderclap.it/projects/10319-on-earth-day-actonclimate\"\u003eOn Earth Day, #ActOnClimate!\u003c/a\u003e and \u003ca href=\"https://www.thunderclap.it/projects/11750-be-sunwise-on-don-t-fry-day\"\u003eBe SunWise on Don’t Fry Day\u003c/a\u003e.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003ch2 id=\"tips-for-success\"\u003eTips for Success\u003c/h2\u003e\n\u003cul\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eThunderclap campaign subjects should be of interest to a broad audience, especially millennials.\u003c/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eWrite a blog post and explain Thunderclap for those not familiar with the tool. Make it clear Thunderclap will only post to their account this one time.\u003c/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eAllow enough time for promotion and promote daily on social media. Include current number of supporters in posts.
