According to \u003ca title=\"Thinknear\" href=\"http://www.mobilemarketingwatch.com/mobile-marketers-are-you-near-me-now-41998/\" target=\"_blank\"\u003eThinknear\u003c/a\u003e, a leader in targeted mobile advertising, that future may soon be a reality.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eHere’s what Thinknear found when measuring the accuracy of location data used in mobile advertising:\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cul\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e67% of ad inventory comes with latitude and longitude information compared to 10% a few years ago\u003c/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e34% of mobile impressions are accurate within 100 meters; 9% are between 100 meters and 1000 meters; and 30% are between 1,000 meters and 10,000 meters\u003c/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e20% of mobile location-based ad inventory is outside 10,000 meters—more than six miles off target\u003c/li\u003e\n\u003c/ul\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eMobile marketers aren’t the only ones who can benefit from accurate location data. As government communicators, our goal is to connect citizens with services and vital information in their communities.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWhile agencies like the \u003ca href=\"/preview/gsa/digitalgov.gov/bc-archive-content-3/2013/05/09/usps-mobile-app-updates/\" title=\"USPS Mobile App Updates\"\u003eUnited States Postal Service\u003c/a\u003e, \u003ca href=\"/preview/gsa/digitalgov.gov/bc-archive-content-3/2013/04/04/nps-national-mall-app/\" title=\"National Park Service Apps\"\u003eNational Park Service\u003c/a\u003e and \u003ca href=\"/preview/gsa/digitalgov.gov/bc-archive-content-3/2014/01/30/alternative-fueling-station-locator-app-from-the-department-of-energy/\" title=\"Alternative Fueling Station Locator App from the Department of Energy\"\u003eDepartment of Energy\u003c/a\u003e are leveraging location in their mobile products, mobile location data provides an opportunity to accomplish this goal through targeted messaging.
