Every aspect of a GAO data graphic is checked to verify its accuracy, and for more complicated graphics, the methodology used to create the graphic is also checked. The advanced maps that we produce go through a formal coding review process. Interactive graphics help us transparently release large data sets. For instance, an interactive graphic in a recent \u003ca href=\"http://www.gao.gov/products/GAO-13-521\"\u003ereport\u003c/a\u003e visualized more than $14 billion in grants that were distributed over a five year period to community police centers across the nation. Within the graphic, users can hover over their cities on the map to see the federal grants they received, they can switch to a table view and sort the data, or they can download the full data set.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cdiv class=\"image\"\u003e\n  \u003cimg\n    src=\"https://s3.amazonaws.com/digitalgov/_legacy-img/2014/05/600-x-338-GAO-Visualizations-Image4-Binghamton-New-York-grant-awards-map.jpg\"\n    alt=\"Graphic from an interactive map showing the 2010 grant awards info for City of Binghamton, New York\"/\u003e\u003c/div\u003e\n\n\n\u003cp\u003eThroughout \u003ca href=\"http://www.gao.gov/\"\u003eGAO.gov\u003c/a\u003e we now have about 40 interactive graphics, mainly focused on topics related to the \u003ca href=\"http://www.gao.gov/fiscal_outlook/understanding_federal_debt/overview\"\u003efederal debt\u003c/a\u003e and the \u003ca href=\"http://www.gao.gov/fiscal_outlook/federal_fiscal_outlook/overview\"\u003efederal\u003c/a\u003e, \u003ca href=\"http://www.gao.gov/fiscal_outlook/state_local_fiscal_model/overview\"\u003estate\u003c/a\u003e, and \u003ca href=\"http://www.gao.gov/fiscal_outlook/state_local_fiscal_model/overview\"\u003elocal\u003c/a\u003e fiscal outlooks.
