You can also view official DOT records of any collisions that have occurred at a specific rail crossing — thus fulfilling the DOT’s goal to empower people to make smart travel choices.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eThe ‘why’ behind the app\u003c/strong\u003e\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAccording to a DOT June 2013 press release, highway rail incidents and deaths resulting from such incidents fell by at least 30 percent in the last 10 years.
