This entry is a story shared by \u003cstrong\u003eBureau of Indian Affairs\u003c/strong\u003e.\u003c/em\u003e\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) held three separate Wikithons in three different locations to help improve and build upon their Wiki pages.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003ch2 id=\"why-we-did-it\"\u003eWhy We Did It\u003c/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe goal of these was to promote creation of employee profiles on our Wiki and to get people started on writing articles.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003ch2 id=\"what-we-did\"\u003eWhat We Did\u003c/h2\u003e\n\u003cdiv class=\"image image-right image-right-legacy\"\u003e\n  \u003cimg\n    src=\"https://s3.amazonaws.com/digitalgov/_legacy-img/2012/07/BIA_Wikithon_Picture_Lady_DC.jpg\"\n    alt=\"BIA\u0026#39;s advertisement for a Wikithon showing a photo of a women inviting employees to drop in and update their profiles on BIA\u0026#39;s internal wiki.\"/\u003e\u003c/div\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eWith some very solid advice from some folks at GSA, we held three seperate Wikithons in Reston, Herndon, and D.C. offices.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThanks to gallons of coffee, mountains of cupcakes and doughnuts, and a lot of hard work we’ve gotten some great results!\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cul\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eCreated a total of 82 profiles, doubling the number of profiles.\u003c/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eWrote 46 articles, so we now have over 170 pages of excellent information.\u003c/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eUploaded over 50 profile pictures, including 20+ that were taken at the Wikithon itself (we set-up a photo booth)!\u003c/li\u003e\n\u003c/ul\u003e\n\u003ch2 id=\"it-worked\"\u003eIt Worked\u003c/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWe had a total of 61 people who participated in person at the Wikithon.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003ch2 id=\"what-we-learned\"\u003eWhat We Learned\u003c/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eConsidering the first 80 profiles took months and the next took a couple days, that’s pretty remarkable. The Wikithon is a good place to start to collaborate on creating profiles.
